It’s going to be sunny and 14C in Tokyo tomorrow, so it’s anybody’s guess if the Japanese capital will get snow this Christmas. I am loving this introduction to the city during winter from writer Nick Coldicott (www.coldicott.net) – it sounds like a great place to be at this time of year. The free Tokyo guide is now live and looking very good.

‘There’s a week around New Year when Tokyo goes eerily quiet. People head home for the holidays, or travel somewhere warmer. But either side of this the city is in party mode, with people ringing out the old, ringing in the new, drinking too much and shopping more than any bank manager would recommend. If you’re very lucky, you’ll see the city blanketed in snow.’
