It’s going to be a chilly week in Shanghai. This is a great reason to head for the warm interiors of Hakkasan, which opened in March. It’s one of the top five restaurants in the Winter 2014 guide to the city, by resident writer Amy Fabris-Shi (, which is live in the App Store.


This Bund newcomer is the first China outpost for the international group of restaurants, which originated in London. The riverfront venue at Bund 18 has won over Shanghai gourmands with its seductive, lattice-swathed interiors and delicious modern Cantonese cuisine (think jasmine tea-smoked wagyu tenderloin). A late-night weekend dim sum is served until 3am and there’s a hidden bar at the back with fine river views.

Favourite table: the window tables on the northern side of the restaurant have both Bund and river views.
