As the weather cools in Istanbul, it’s reviews like this one from writer Tristan Rutherford that remind you that every cloud has a silver lining. Brand new restaurant Nopa has the sort of roof just made for a long, lazy lunch or supper while the rain drums overhead. It’s one of the top five restaurants in Tristan’s Winter 2014 guide to the city, which has just gone live and covers December, January and February.

A restaurant so new it hadn’t even got its menu online when we wrote this. Thanks to the city’s coolest interiors agency, Autoban, this acclaimed new address is a winter warmer: think snug gentlemen’s club meets Milanese bistro. Chef Coşkun Uysal takes Turkish cuisine global with Anatolian sosis (a take on the hot dog) and a spiced pineapple carpaccio. DJs rock the dining room post-dessert.

Favourite table: one of the seven ‘car seat’ bar stools with a pre-dinner ‘The Nopa’ cocktail in hand.
