Great to see on today that in a TripAdvisor poll the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Center was ranked as one of the top 10 museums in China. It’s one of the five sights in resident travel journalist Amy Fabris-Shi’s autumn guide for Seasonal Cities.

Propaganda Poster Museum

Tucked away in the basement of an ordinary apartment building, this museum is well worth an hour or two of your time, especially if you encounter a rainy spell. The private collection features hundreds of colourful Mao-era artworks and billboard propaganda posters, produced from 1949 to the late 1970s and accompanied by insightful descriptions. It can be tricky to find – ask the gatekeeper for directions.
