On a rather grey day in London, I am liking this bright interior shot of Ginger in Rome, along with writer Lee Marshall’s review of the place. It’s one of his top five restaurants for our autumn 2014 guide to the Eternal City (www.seasonalcities.com).

It seems apt that one of Rome’s most health-oriented juice bars and restaurants is right in the middle of the fashion district. But there’s more here than celery for supermodels. Gourmet panini, platters of salami and fresh mozzarella vie for attention on a menu that also offers numerous smoothies and fruit plates. And two huge vintage skylights brighten up the all-white interior on even the greyest day.

Favourite table: ask for an outside table, under the cantilever parasols, if you want a tête à tête. Ask for one inside – preferably along the side wall, ‘sotto i paralumi di vimini’ (under the wicker lampshades), if you prefer to be part of the buzz and theatre of the restaurant.
